About me
I specialise in making technical topics inclusive and accessible through engaging and rigorous courses.
Having experience in digital development, UX design, and education, I create educational products that are effective for learners and practical for providers.

Would be web designer
In my teens, I taught myself web design and coding skills, and later completed a foundation diploma at art school. But at that point I didn't pursue a career in these areas.
In the last few years I've returned to my interest in design and combined it with my experience in education as a learning designer and developer.
It’s been really fun to return to the coding and design skills I learned as a teenager.

Research background
I spent 7 years working as an academic researcher and lecturer.
This has given me the skills to quickly research new topics, synthesise large amounts of information and recommend possible options for development.
It also means I know how to clearly communicate complicated ideas in a way that is tailored to a specific audience.
Inclusive practice
At the University of Birmingham, I was the Disability Lead for the EDI committee for my school. I advocated for better accessibility in the learning materials and environment for both staff and students.
I also worked with students with a broad range of backgrounds and needs, and developed my adapted my communication and materials to be as inclusive as possible.

Accessible digital learning
I care very deeply about making my designs accessible and inclusive to the broadest possible range of users. I have focused on producing online materials are easy to use, have clear information architecture, are accessible on multiple platforms and work with assistive technology.
Commercial work
I have now moved into learning design and development in not-for-profit and commercial settings and have consistenly produced high-quality, commercially successful courses.
